MONDAY 19-09-22

The noise from the road outside seems to be getting worse during the night. I eventually had to drop the roof vent down to reduce the sound.

We were up at a reasonable time and across the road for our showers before I had the pleasure of emptying the toilet cassette.

We were soon up the road to catch the number 200 bus to Antibes, which took about twenty minutes (I think the driver was in a hurry).

We've been there three times before, and like the location, but in the past we've also walked to Juan-Les-Pins which is a bit of a hike, especially if you lose your way, but today we decided not to do it. It's very pleasant there with busy beaches, restaurants and large super-yachts in the marina.

We settled for a nice walk around town during which we enjoyed a large slice of pizza each whilst actually sat down inside the establishment, as opposed to being on a park bench somewhere which is normally how we do things.

I had told The Chef that I wouldn't mind a look around the Picasso Museum, she wasn't at all bothered about it but said I should go in and she's wait for me outside. I wasn't that bothered about it and so we gave it a miss.

Further on we had a nice coffee each and I was treated to a muffin, which wasn't the freshest I've ever tasted, but never mind, it had been another chance for a sit down.

By then it was getting pretty hot, with twenty-six degrees having been forecast. Because of that we thought we'd wander back to the bus stop right next to the railway station and make our way back, failing yet again to pass the birthplace of Philippe Philope, the inventor of the beach footwear.

When we arrived back at Villeneuve-Loubet we popped over the road to the small Carrefour supermarket opposite the bus stop and bought some bits that we needed. The Chef wanted a fresh cooked chicken (it was cheaper to buy a whole one than a bag of chicken bits) as she plans to serve up another Thai Chicken Curry this evening, and because of that I bought a bottle of white wine to have with it which is currently chilling in the fridge.

Today has been a sad day of course as it is the funeral of our Queen Elizabeth II. In fact as I type this her service at Windsor Castle is about to start. The Chef has been watching much of her cortege drive from London to Windsor on French television which was very irritating because it was non-stop discussion from the Froggie presenters all the time. So I'm about to fire up BBC iPlayer on my laptop so that The Chef can watch the service live before I post today's text and photographs. After that we may fast forward the whole thing on iPlayer this evening and find out what we missed.

It has been a remarkable & memorable day.
