THURSDAY 15-09-22
There were a lot of nasty sounding thunderstorms up in the mountains last night, so much so that at 03:00 I got out of bed, went outside, and put the table and chairs away. The wind-out awning was fine because if we deploy it we always put it away at night. Fortunately the storms stayed inland though we did get quite a bit of rain on and off during the night.
We awoke this morning to our first full day here in Villenueve-Loubet. The weather forecast was for today and tomorrow to be as high as 31°C, and so we thought we'd settle for a walk along the promenade to Cagnes-sur-Mer and back again.
By the time we got back it really was hot. We popped in to the marvellous 'Giant' supermarket just round the corner from the campsite for a few bits before returning 'home' and trying to keep as cool as possible.
Tonight's dining experience was a quick barbie. It wasn't terribly successful as I'd deep cleaned the grilling surface after the last trip, and tonight forgot to oil it before cooking.
After clearing up we went for a wander down to the marina complex and a look at a few establishments menus. I think we'll probably treat ourselves to a meal out while we're here.
Tomorrow is forecast to be another very hot day and so we've decided to have a bit of a rest day, get some chores done and relax. There's just no point in paying to get somewhere and then wilt in the heat. Saturday we're looking to go to Nice on the terrific number 200 bus service which runs all the way between Cannes and Nice, for a fixed fare of €1.50 and the service is very regular too.
