TUESDAY 17-06-08

During the night we did indeed have a thunderstorm, though it wasn’t too bad, we didn’t get too much rain from it. This morning The Chef thought she’d dreamt it.

Yet again the morning started bright, warm and sunny. This is most appreciated given the changeable, unseasonal weather we have endured since leaving Durango, Colorado, four weeks ago. The only problem is that ‘warm’ leads to ‘hot’ and it gets very hot, nudging 100F for a number of hours. Luckily the campground staff kindly gave us a pitch under a large tree and so we have lots of shade with the added bonus that they also sell bags of ice.

Having sorted out the rear cargo locker yesterday I turned my attention to the cab-over bedroom which we use as a storage area. I needed to identify what needed to be taken home with us and what could be left behind for the second leg of our trip. In between all of this I was quenching my thirst with Margarita’s (I had to find a use for the bag of ice I’d bought), soaking up some sun and a quick dip in the small campground swimming pool.

Tonight we had our last planned barbecue. Afterwards I gave it a good clean ready to stow for a couple of months until we return. Whilst I was cleaning up The Chef caught up with the Weather Channel on Cable TV. It seems we have a high possibility of getting heavy thunderstorms in the early hours of tomorrow morning including heavy hail. Therefore the RV got vacuumed throughout, which is what we do every time we move on, and in came the slide-out unit again, though this time it was secured for transit, making us almost ready for moving on to the Fort Worth area tomorrow.

LOCATION TONIGHT: KOA campground, 4851 W. Stamford St, Abilene, TX, 79603
