WEDNESDAY 20-10-21

We had a very peaceful night and were over at the bathroom block in good time to hear fellow campers coughing their lungs up whilst sh*tting, showering and shaving...... and then there were the snorters.

We have had very heavy dew here in the mornings which meant that when I tried to wind the twenty-five metre hook-up cable back on to the reel I had to wipe every single inch of it with kitchen roll because the sharp sand on the pitch surface was stuck to the cable.

Soon we were ready for the road and leaving Camping Villasol behind. It's a good campsite and the only one we would stay at if we came yet again, which we won't.

Our intention was to visit Denia, about thirty miles or so up the road. My brother Richard and his wife Sue like spending a winter holiday there, so we thought we'd try and park in the local marina car park for the night and have a look round.

Sadly on our arrival, having been directed right through the town centre of course, we found that the Denia Marina car park had a sign prohibiting caravan and motorhome parking, so that was a disappointment. After going for a stroll along the promenade past the marina, having lunch and speaking to Richard we made tracks for Benicassim another 120 miles up the road.

We drove past acre upon acre of orange groves, the Valencia region being famous for producing them. Again the Spanish put us to shame in providing a good motorway network to get drivers from A to B.

Our arrival at Bonterra Park Resort (I assume now too good to call itself a campsite) www.bonterraresort.com  (GPS: N40.056967° E0.074650°) was a busy business. Motorhomes were still arriving mid-afternoon and there were just four pitches vacant. As a consequence we're wedged in the corner of a small plot on the edge of the site, but with very nice neighbours. After we'd parked up The Chef said that if she'd known we'd finish up in this spot she would have suggested us spending a couple more nights back at Camping Villasol back in Benidorm, and coming from The Chef who is not Benidorm's greatest fan, that's quite something.

We're booked in here for six nights. This is a our very favourite campsite in Spain, but sadly this will also be a farewell visit.

These six days will hopefully be spent visiting old haunts as well as spending some time on the lovely beach and in the village itself.

As I type this The Chef is about to prepare tonight's fine dining experience.
