Later I was to learn that it had only just been refurbished, in readiness for the Goodwood Festival of Speed, before making its way back again to America. What's more I discovered that Classic Team Lotus did guided tours of their workshops. How miffed I was, had I known, I could have booked a visit whilst they were refurbishing the '38'. Never mind, months later I did make a visit to the workshops and it was very interesting.

Note the drive shaft lengths. The car only has to make left hand turns on an oval track. This layout keeps the weight over to the nearside of the track.
